Investigating officer ACP Tilakchandra had sought an extension in the police custody but also a narco-analysis, lie detector test and brain-mapping on the accused.

While the court did not give any response to the narco-analysis issue, it allowed the police to keep him for another two days in their custody for interrogation.

The advocate for the accused submitted that Shenoy had kidney ailment for the past two years and that he be allowed to get admitted to a private nursing home. Asha Nayak, appearing for the father of the slain Vinayak Baliga, opposed the plea. Her argument that since Shenoy had been medically examined by doctors at a government hospital, the same procedure be followed. The court upheld the argument and declined the appeal of the accused for admission into a private hospital.

Is the judiciary system in India a joke? Unlike selective outrage shown by some writers on this forum, this abuse is not just limited to Shenoy’s case. We have seen this over and over again. From Yeddyurappa to sanyaasi nithyaananda, claiming some physical ailment and dodging police custody or prison time seem to be an easy way out. How can anyone respect this system? Oh well…
