Mangaluru: Talk about the power of media, especially Electronic media where we highlight the civic issues and within few hours or few days the concerned authorities who can’t bear the criticism about heir negligence, quickly get into action and rectify the civic issues. In the past Mangalorean.com has highlighted various civic issues through our website, and there has been a tremendous effect with most of the problems being fixed in no time, from rectifying dilapidated roads, open drainage, non-friendly footpaths, dog menace etc etc.

BEFORE ……

Here is yet another story of website publicity which has brought positive results, in less than 12 hours after the article ( Ref: OMG, Not So Soon? Another Speeding Mini Truck Damages the Just Replaced Steel Guard on Balmatta Bridge Rd ) was published on 29 May at 11 pm, and it’s nice to note that the owner of the truck, Kaleel, had taken quick action, in repairing the damaged steel guard-and this morning Team Mangalorean noticed that a bunch of workers using a crane were fixing the steel guard. Recalling the incident-on Friday, 29 May 2020, at around 10 pm, a speeding Mahindra Bolero modified mini truck bearing Reg No KA 19 AB 3881, and the driver due to negligence hit the steel guard so hard, the front top potion of the truck is damaged, and also lifted the steel guard from its base, loosening the bolts and nuts. The truck belonged to MKH Builders Wholesale Market, Kumpala Bypass- Thokkottu.

AFTER WEBSITE IMPACT……

Team Mangalorean interacting with the driver of the truck urged him to call his boss (the owner of the truck) and he did, and the owner, Kaleel rushed to the spot quickly. Site Engineer (Technical) Ananth Shanker from MSCL who was sent to the spot by Er Arun Prabha-GM (Technical) at MSCL, to negotiate with the truck company owner, and with mutual understanding between MSCL and the truck company, the truck owner agreed to repair the damages on their cost. By 10 am on Saturday, 30 May, the steel guard was fixed, and the Balmatta Bridge Road was open for the motorists. Even though the steel guard is repaired and back in its original shape, a piece of advise to MSCL, is that it would certainly help in preventing such incidents happening over and over again, if they install humps/speed-breakers on both sides of the road, few meters away from the steel guard.

On behalf of MSCL and motorists of Mangaluru, Team Mangalorean extends heartfelt thanks to Kaleel, the owner of the truck for his quick response in fixing the steel guard. It all looks good at the moment, but let’s keep our finger crossed, for you never know, we could see yet another incident of the same kind sooner or later-but until then all you truck drivers, Stay Alert while taking the Balmatta Bridge Road!
