Website Impact! Go Jogging or Walking- Kadri Park Now OPEN, 7 am- 9 am & 4 pm -7 pm

Mangaluru: Talk about the power of media, especially Electronic media where we highlight the civic issues and within few hours or few days the concerned authorities who can’t bear the criticism about heir negligence, quickly get into action and rectify the civic issues. In the past Mangalorean.com has highlighted various civic issues through our website, and there has been a tremendous effect with most of the problems being fixed in no time, from rectifying dilapidated roads, open drainage, non-friendly footpaths, dog menace etc etc.

Here is yet another story of website publicity which has brought positive results, in less than 12 hours after the article ( Ref: Parks to Open, Buses to Run…in State said CM, However, Parks Not Open, Buses Not Running in Mluru? ) was published on 21 May at 9 pm, and it’s nice to note that the concerned authorities have taken a quick action, where now the citizens of Mangaluru can enjoy the fresh green environment during their exercises at Kadri Park. The Park opened this morning, 22 May at 7 am, but it didn’t attract many since there was no prior information. This morning after the Park opened showed only a few walkers and as usual, also a bunch of four-legged ‘furry’ walkers? But these walkers/joggers who made use of Kadri Park this morning, were happy to resume their routine at the Park, after a gap of nearly 60 days, either staying indoor or taking a stroll around their homes/apartments- but today being at the Kadri Park made them feel alive again!

BEFORE WEBSITE IMPACT….

Even though Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday, 18 May allowed ease in lockdown and said total lockdown will be imposed in the state on Sundays only, and that Parks along with all shops will be allowed to open, all trains will run within the state on 19 May, however it didn’t materialize in Mangaluru. Joggers and walkers who have been anxiously waiting for Kadri Park to open on Tuesday, had to return back since the park gate was locked. But a few took their morning walk on the street and highway adjacent to the Park, even though they were not happy with it. But now comes the good news, Kadri Park is now open from 7 am till 9 am, and from 4 pm till 7 pm daily, except on Sunday, since CM has announced Sunday as a total lockdown day.

AFTER WEBSITE IMPACT….

Entry into the Kadri Park is allowed to people ONLY if they wear FACE MASK, and footwear. As you walk-in the staff at the Park gate will sanitize your hands, but as of today they don’t have the tool to check your temperature, as the park department is waiting for the tool to arrive. That’s how our govt department work, always never ready for anything. So all those of you having HIGH TEMPS, entering the Park are lucky for the next two days, until they start doing the temperature check.

Ms Cynthia D’souza, a regular morning walker at Kadri Park speaking to Team Mangalorean said, “I read the article in Mangalorean.com last night, and I had a feeling that positive results will show up this morning- and it did-the park is open even though it was suppose to open on Tuesday. Good job Team Mangalorean and Mangalorean.com for always highlighting City’s civic issues, resulting in quick changes. I am happy to be at the Park, after nearly two months walking around our apartment and doing some exercise indoors. But it’s nothing compared to having a walk or jog in a environmental friendly Kadri Park. Thanks to the govt and the local authorities for opening the Park, and to Mangalorean.com”.

Dr Karthik Uchila, a Radiologist enjoying his morning walk at the Park, who is also a regular walker at Kadri Park said that it’s nice to be back at the Park after a long period, where all these days walking on the street or around the vicinity of the residence was not fun, compared to enjoying the goodness of the nature at Kadri Park. Glad to be back here at the Park, added Dr

Good Job by Team Mangalorean. Keep up the good work. Civic issues are most important which need to be looked into & sorted out at the earliest. But our single voices of citizens have always seen a deaf ear. When it comes from you, it has worked wonders. So Thank you for being the voice of the citizens & continue to do well.
