What a sad incident to watch and read. These incidents are getting out of control .even in India.. There are so many Married Couples are crying to have a Child of their own. .There are so many Older People Sit and Cry inside Home For the Aged where their Children nor Grand Children do not even visit them as Parents. Some day these Young Generation will feel the Pinch. I do visit them and help in need. First of all all Government Officials should understand that footpaths are there for the pedestrians to walk safely and called as Pedestrian Right of Way. Hence this is lawful right of every citizen to avail this and Government Officials and elected members should ensure the rules pertaining the same should be followed. Officials own kith and kin might be using this for their personal safety. Good Article and Citizens to be made aware of this and if they find their personal right has been denied they should call the cops and till the vehicles are moved from the area they should not move. However like all other things where anybody is having time for this, even though life is in danger by speeding bus or vehicle while walking on the road nobody will object to it. The citizen too is becoming offender here while walking on the road which he is not aware off.

I have witnessed the destruction caused by these snail’s in some of the islands in the Andamans, where no crops can be grown for this reason. Food has to be brought in from the mainland. Last time prices are increased due to covid precautions 50% passengers only can travel in bus ,at that time diesel price is 75-₹80,we agree that bus owner should have to incrase the bus fare, but now govt allowed 100% passengers only diesel price is high ₹94,….approximately ₹18..now bus owner increasing the bus fare only reason diesel price is high…what about prior lockdown bus fare hike??? At that time they incresed 15% only because 50% allowance in bus ..plz note at that time no incrase in fuel price…now they are stick to fuel price and increasing +15%..total they are incaresing upto30% ..eg before lock down bus fare is ₹55 due to lockdown bus fare increased to (50% allowance reason)₹ 65…and now again due to diesel price they increased to ₹78.(after allowing 100% passengers) ..no one is concern about that..kindly look into matter and do the needful.

City needs wider footpaths not just roads. As it also has to accommodate wheel chairs of handicapped and growing pedestrian population. Not everyone has the luxury to own vehicles. Personal vehicles should be reduced in roads by mass public transportation systems such as metro bus and planned metrolite/neo by smart city. You cant keep widening roads to accommodate growing number of vehicles. And also encroachment by hawkers is not a design issue, its a law enforcement problem.

It’s all about the kickbacks gotten from contractors, interlock and paving stones/kerb stone suppliers. One fine day they will realise the mistake and again tender a contract to narrow these footpaths for motor vehicles. And again they will get kick backs. With concrete roads unlike asphalted road, they cannot keep making money every year post the monsoons. What an innovative way for corruption. Any sane and qualified and most of all honest engineer would have made it more logical to have wider roads and foot paths not wider than 4feet and probably provide parallel parking spots for cars and designated parking for 2 wheelers. I’m not suprised at the smart way of looting from these smart projects of a smart City.

Most likely nothing will improve but even if there is 0.0000000000001% chance of stopping such blatant wastage after 500 years in India, it is 99.999999999999% worth it.

I am completely in agreement with your views. Regarding the indirect reference to cow slaughter act, I want to bring to your attention that it was congress that brought law against cow slaughter in most of the Indian states in ’60s. If I am not wrong it was becuase of Achrya Vonobha Bhave’s initiative. And most of the states had congress govts and brought the law including the then Mysore state. Today neither congress not BJP want o mention this – Congress afraid of losing minority votes if they are reminded about congress’s lead in anti cow slaughter law and BJP is afraid of losing Hindu votes!

BTW: When writing a year after the conventional/assumed calculation of the Lord Jesus Christ’s birth, we write it as A.D. or AD first, then the years. For example A.D. 52, or AD 52. Not 52 AD, 72 AD! At least the “clergy” in the list, if any, ought to have known of it! The years before His birth is year first, then BC or B.C. For example Herod’s death 4 BC, or 4 B.C. Hopefully the emblem will be updated to the correct A.D. 52 and A.D. 72!
